Speech-impaired pushed off bus

A speech impaired woman was pushed off a bus as she could not pay the bus fare at Keraniganj in Dhaka on Sunday.

A local person recorded the incident in his mobile on Sunday morning as the woman was pushed off by the bus’s conductor at Rohitpur of Keraniganj.

The video, which went viral in social media, showed that the conductor of N Mallick Paribahan bus pushed her off near Rohitpur bus stop after the bus slowed down.

The bus, with registration number of Dhaka Metro-Gha-13-1521, then left the spot.

N Mallick Paribahan buses ply Gulistan-Nawabganj route. After the video went viral on Facebook, Keraniganj police officer-in-charge Kazi Mainul Islam visited the spot.

He said that locals confirmed him about the incident, but police were yet to trace the victim.

The OC said that they had identified the bus, but denied to disclose whether anyone of the bus was detained.

A police officer said that the bus driver was Sobuj Mia and his assistant was Hasan.

The woman was seen screaming on the road as locals were trying to help her.

Locals said that she managed to inform locals about her problem writing words on the road with her fingers.

She said that she boarded the bus at Konakhola area and she had no bus fare.

She also said that she often rides on N Mallick Paribahan buses and conductors usually do not charge her.

She said that she tried to explain her situation to the bus worker, but he did not care about that and rather pushed her off the bus.
