The online application process for the first year honours admission tests under the 2020-21 academic session of Dhaka University began on Monday.
The process will continue until March 31 midnight, said the university authorities.
Dhaka University vice-chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman formally inaugurated the application process at the Central Admission Office of the university at 5:00 pm.
The entrance tests will begin on May 21 with the admission test of ‘Ka’ unit in eight divisional cities for the first time considering the pandemic situation.
This time, students applying from the science group are required to have a minimum SSC and HSC combined GPA of 8.5. Applicants from the arts and business studies groups require a combined GPA of 8, while those applying for fine arts will need 7.
The admission test for ‘Kha’ unit will be held on May 22, ‘Ga’ unit on May 27, ‘Gha’ unit on May 28’ and ‘Cha’ unit (General Knowledge) on June 5.
The examinations for four units (Ka, Kha, Ga and Gha) will be held for a total of 120 marks, of which MCQs will carry 60 marks and the written part will carry 40 marks. Another 20 marks will be added to it from the results of SSC and HSC.
For the ‘Cha’ unit, there will be 40 marks for MCQs and 60 for a written test besides 20 marks for SSC and HSC results.
The test will begin at 11:00 am each day and will end at 12:30 am. The MCQ section will have a duration of 45 minutes while the written part will have 45 minutes.
For the ‘Cha’ unit, the MCQ section will have a duration of 30 minutes while the written part will have 45 minutes.
