The customs authorities at Hili Land Port in Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur have already exceeded by about 15 per cent the revenue collection target set for the 2020‑2021 financial year that will end in June next.
‘We have collected Tk 220.28 crore till February against the target of earnings Tk 191.79 crore revenue set by the National Board of Revenue through HLP during this fiscal year,’ deputy commissioner of customs at HLP Saidul Alam told local reporters.
The collected revenue earnings are higher by around Tk 28.50 crore than the target.
Talking to the BSS on Friday, the Hili Land Port Importers-Exporters Group president Harun Ur Rashid said all the goods being imported now through HLP were duty-free.
‘So, revenue earning has increased in this fiscal year compared with that in the previous fiscal year,’ said Harun, also chairman of local Hakimpur upazila parishad.
Hili municipality mayor and importer Jamil Hossain Cholonto said, ‘If the roads connecting HLP with Hili town and other parts of the country are repaired rapidly, the import and export will increase further through the land port.’
