Alif dazzles with three golds

Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan archer Abdur Rahman Alif emerged star on the third and final day of the Bangabandhu 12th National Archery Championship after he grabbed three gold medals in the men’s recurve singles, recurve team and recurve mixed events on Thursday. 

Alif beat Hakim Ahmed Rubel of Police Archery Club by 7-3 sets in the men’s recurve singles’ final held at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar.

In the recurve mixed event, Alif, Diya Siddeki pair beat Police Archery Club’s Beauty Ray and Tamimul Islam by 5-4 set to clinch gold.

Alif also won gold in the recurve men’s team event with Prodipto Chakma and Shiek Sojeb beating Dhaka District Sports Association team comprised of Afzal Hossain Sayem, Shagor Islam and Mishad Prodhan by 6-2 sets.

Dhaka Army Archery Club’s Mehenaj Akter Monira bagged gold in the recurve women’s single event and clinched gold in the recurve women’s team event.

Monira beat Najmin Khatun of Bangladesh Ansar by 6-0 sets in the recurve women’s singles’ final.

Monira also won  gold in the recurve women’s team event with Nasrin Akter and Rabeya Akter beating  BKSP team comprised of  Diya Siddeki, Fahmida Sultana Nisha and Umya Ching Marma by 5-4 sets in tie-breaker after a 4-4 tie.

Aishwarzo Rahman Titas of Bangladesh Ansar bagged gold in the compound men’s single event as he beat BKSP’s Himu Bachhar by 140-136 points.

Susmita Banik of Dhaka Army Archery Club secured gold in the compound women’s single event after she beat her team-mate Roksana Akter by 143-141 points in the final.

Police Archery Club team comprised of  Ashim Kumar Das, Ashikuzzaman and Vanrum Bawm  bagged gold medal in the compound men’s team event after beating Army Archery Club team -Jabed Alam, Mithu Rahman and Sohel Rana - by 224-216 points. 

In the compound women’s team event, Army Archery Club team - Roksana Akter, Susmita Banik and Tania Rima - beat Police Archery Club team - Humayra Khatun, Ritu Akter and Sheuly Akter - by 221-206 points to win gold medal.

Army Archery Club pair Roksana Akter and Mithu Rahman bagged gold in the compound mixed event as they beat Police Archery Club pair Humayra Khatun and Ashim Kumar Das by 149- 147 points.

Army Archery Club became champions with five gold, two silver medals while BKSP finished second with three gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

Police [one gold, four silver and four bronze], Ansar [one gold, one silver and four bronze] and Dhaka DSA [one silver and one bronze] finished third, fourth and fifth respectively.
