The first of the five-match one-day series between Bangladesh emerging team and Ireland Wolves will be held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Chattogram today.
The hosts won the lone four-day match against the Irish side by an innings and 23 runs at the same venue but the stand-in coach of the emerging team, Champaka Ramanayake is expecting a tough battle in the one-day series.
‘They have brought some international players who are experienced where we are trying out young cricketers. Apart from a few like Saif [Hasan] or Yasir [Ali], most of the cricketers came from the Under-19 level,’ the former Sri Lankan pacer told New Age.
‘For most of them, this is their first tour with the High Performance team. I think the Irish side will bounce back in the one-day matches.’
Mark Adair, who was one of the most successful bowlers for the Ireland Wolves in the four-day match, believed their current side was one of their most experienced sides ever.
‘I think this Wolves side is one of the more experienced ones we’ve had in a weird way. We’ve got nine guys out here who were in Abu Dhabi with the senior side so a lot of the guys have first-team experience’, the right-arm fast bowler was quoted in the Cricket Ireland website.
The first three matches of the five- match series will take place in Chattogram. The match will begin at 9:00am and it will be live on YouTube.
The next two matches of the one-day series and two Twenty20 matches will take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
