The family of Tajrian Mostafa Moumita, a student of Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation in Malaysia, filed a murder case with the Kalabagan police station over her death falling from the rooftop.

Three days after the incident, her father filed the case on Monday night against five people, including Farjad Ahmed Faijar, the son of the landowner.

Police quizzed Faijar and his friend Adnan over the death and later arrested Adnan, said Kalabagan police station officer-in-charge Paritosh Chandra.

Moumita’s father Kamal Mostafa Khan alleged that Faijar and one Tanvir were stalking his daughter for days and they pushed off Moumita from the rooftop of the seven-storey building.

Moumita was the second among three sisters. After passing her HSC from Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, she moved to Malaysia with her parents.

The family returned to Bangladesh in June due to the COVID-19 situation and rented that house in North Dhanmondi.

According to the case statement, Moumita went to the rooftop at about 4:30 pm on Friday.

Her father had texted her to return home quickly. Moumita replied that she was getting down within a few minutes.

Her body was found in front of the building an hour later.

The case statement said that Faijar and his friends Adnan, Tanvir, Trinoy, Aparajita and some others hang out on the roof regularly and cause chaos there. Some of them were also stalking Moumita.
