Protest over Mushtaq’s death held in Chattogram

Different organisations in Chattogram brought out a procession on Saturday protesting at the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed in prison.

The protest rally was brought out from the city’s Cheragi Pahar area at about 4:00pm that paraded Jamalkhan area following a human chain.

Protestors at rally termed the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed a murder and demanded an impartial investigation into it.

Ganatantrik Chhatra Council leader Wasir conducted the protest rally while Chattogram district Chhatra Union president Any Sen, Chhatra Federation central committee vice president Forhad Jaman Jony, among others addressed the rally.

Chattogram University teachers Maidul Islam, Jihan Karim, Communist Party of Bangladesh Chattogram district general secretary Ashoke Saha, among others, were present at the protest rally.

Writer Mushtaq died in Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur on Thursday night and it was the first death in prison after being detained under DSA.

He was arrested on May 6, 2020, and later shifted to the high-security jail on August 24, 2020, from the Dhaka Central Jail.
