Under-19 cricketers’ training camp ahead of their series against Afghanistan began at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur on Friday, said a Bangladesh Cricket Board official.
BCB game development manager AEM Kawser told New Age that the camp is taking place to prepare the players ahead of a bilateral series against Afghanistan in India.
‘We have started the training camp as a preparation for the series against Afghanistan, which will take place in Greater Noida, India which is the home of Afghanistan cricket team. All the c
oaching staff members are present in the camp,’ said Kawser.
The camp begun with 22 young cricketers and out of them 15-16 will be finally selected for the series against Afghanistan, Kawser told New Age.
The young cricketers will leave for India on March 10.
The junior Tigers will play one four-day match and five 50-over matches, said Kawser,
‘In the tour, Bangladesh U-19 team will play one four-day match and five one-day matches. All the matches will take place at Greater Noida Stadium.’ informed Kawser.
Earlier, there was a plan to include India in the one-day series to make it a triangular tournament but Kawser said that the tri-series will happen later this year in Bangladesh.
‘We will play the tri-nation series at home in November when India will come,’ he added.
