Aspiring fiction writer Mojjafor Hossain’s seventh collection of short stories titled Manusher Mangser Restora has been published on February 7 eying the upcoming Amar Ekushey Book Fair, which will begin on March 18.

Manusher Mangser Restora contains 21 short stories. The book has been published under the banner of Panjeree Publication. Razib Dutta is the cover designer of the book.

‘The book contains 21 short stories which are written in contemporary context taking into account the local and global realities. In most of the short stories, the brutal aspects of society and life have been brought up. However, in this case, since the content is real, the narrative style of the story has created a magical and surreal aura,’ Mojaffor Hossain told New Age.

‘At first the readers are tricked and are pushed away from the eye of the storm. Then they are tactfully brought into it in a way as if they are the characters of that story. As in a dark fantasy, the readers will continue to enjoy the events of their own fall and the cruelty amid which they lose themselves. Serious themes such as cannibalism have also been made pleasant by way of a comical twist often found in black comedy,’ added Mojaffor Hossain, who has earlier published literary works namely Atit Ekta Bhindesh, Paradhin Desher Swadhin Manushera, Timirjatra, AbastabJibaner Bastab Galpagulo, Khun Hoye Jachchhe Sob Sadek and others.

He has received awards namely Exim Bank-Anyadin Humayun Ahmed Literary Award, Abul Hasan Sahitya Puraskar, Aranai Sahitya Puraskar and others.

Readers can buy copies of Manusher Mangser Restora at book shops namely Prokriti, Batighar, Nirbachita, Ujan, Pathak Samabesh and others. It is also available on different online platforms including rokomari.com and the website and Facebook page of Panjeree Publication.

Besides, the collection of short stories will be available at Panjeree Publication’s stall at Amar Ekushey Book Fair.
