Seven members of the Bangladesh Water Multi-Stakeholders Partnership, including Unilever’s Pureit, launched a month-long unique challenge competition for the youth titled ‘Water Innovation Challenge Competition-2021’ on Tuesday, said a press release.
The WICC-2021 challenge competition is jointly organised by Unilever’s Pureit, the government’s A2i project, Dhaka WASA, the Department of Environment, 2030 Water Resources Group, Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services and Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS).
The month-long competition aims to find an ICT based solution to help create behavioural change amongst citizens.
It is anticipated to lead to a reduction in water usage and raise accountability amongst industries regarding the reuse and recycle of water.
The result is expected to help the government to make informed investment decisions for fresh water and recycled water infrastructure.
The competition was inaugurated on a virtual platform with senior water resources secretary Kabir Bin Anwar attending as the chief guest.
Submissions to the competition started on Tuesday and will run till March 15.
Evaluation and screening will be done in March 16-21.
The grand finale of the competition will take place on March 22 on World Water Day, when the judges will announce the name of the winning innovator team.
