The board of directors of Janata Bank Limited has expressed deep shock at the death of its former chairperson and entrepreneur Luna Shamsuddoha, said a press release.
During the board of directors meeting held on Tuesday, bank’s chairman SM Mahfuzur Rahman said that the country would forever remember the contributions of the late Luna Shamsuddoha as a champion of women empowerment and women’s participation in technology.
Prior to her death, Luna was serving as a director of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Systems.
She was the founder and president of the Bangladesh Women in Technology, an advocacy forum for women ICT entrepreneurs.
In his speech, Janata Bank managing director and CEO Abdus Salam Azad said that the late Luna had dedicated her efforts towards driving the bank forward when she served as chairperson from February 2019 till June 2019.
Luna died while undergoing treatment for cancer at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on February 19.
She was 55.
The board members prayed for salvation of the departed soul and offered their deepest sympathies for the family of the deceased on behalf of all employees of Janata Bank.
