The 14th Jatiya Pitha Utsab will begin on Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy premises today.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the academy’s seminar room on Monday.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general Liaquat Ali Lucky, Jatiya Pitha Utsab Udjapan Parishad president and freedom fighter M Hamid, the organisation’s member secretary Khandakar Shah Alom and others were present at the press conference.
‘Jatiya Pitha Utsab Udjapan Parishad has been arranging the event since 2007 with an aim to promote traditional pithas among the younger generations. We are arranging the festival following health directives this year. I invite all to visit the event,’ Khandakar Shah Alom, member secretary of Jatiya Pitha Utsab Udjapan Parishad, told New Age.
The 10-day event will be jointly organised by Jatiya Pitha Utsab Udjapan Parishad and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. It will feature traditional pithas at 50 stalls.
State minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid will inaugurate Jatiya Pitha Utsab as chief guest. Thespian and member of Awami League advisory council Ataur Rahman, cultural activist and freedom fighter Nasiruddin Yousuff and eminent dance teacher Amanul Haque, among others, are scheduled to attend the inaugural ceremony.
Jatiya Pitha Utsab will remain open for all from 3:00pm to 9:00pm till March 4.
