Different government and cultural organisations will observe the International Mother Language Day organising various programmes across the country today.
Bangla Academy, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samannay Parishad, Chhayanaut, Bangladesh Abritti Samannay Parishad and others will arrange programmes marking the day.
The programmes will feature discussions, songs, dance recitals and recitation.
Bangla Academy will organise a programme at its Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Hall at 11:00am. The academy will also hand over Kabi Jasimuddin Sahitya Puraskar 2021 at the programme.
State minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid will be present as chief guest and former
Dhaka University vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique will be present as discussant as the programme.
Bangla Academy director general Habibullah Siraji will deliver the welcome speech whilet the programme will be presided over by the academy’s president professor Shamsuzzaman Khan.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will arrange a programme at its National Theatre Hall at 5:00pm.
State minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid will inaugurate the event as chief guest and cultural affairs ministry secretary M Badrul Arefin will be present as special guest at the programme.
Cultural organisation Chhayanaut will stream a live programme featuring songs and discussion on its Facebook page and YouTube channel at 7:00pm. Artistes of Chhayanaut will perform songs at the event.
Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samannay Parishad has arranged a two-day programme, which commenced on Saturday. The event is being streamed live on the organisation’s Facebook page at 8:00pm.
Artistes from 25 organisations including Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha, Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad and Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi, among others, are participating in the programme.
Artistes namely Tribeni Panna, Manira Rawnak Bubli, Taslima Begum Nita, Pijus Barua, Arzu Akter, Pradip Sarkar and others performed songs on the programme on Saturday.
Rokeya Hasina, Lina Das, Shahid Kabir Palas, Tamal Chakrabarti, Salma Akbar, Tanzina Tama and others will perform at the programme today.
Bangladesh Abritti Samannay Parishad will stream a programme titled Ekusher Pratham Prahar on its Facebook page marking the day at 7:30 pm. The programme will feature discussion, recitations and award-giving ceremony. The organisation will present Golam Mustafa Abritti Padak and Brishti-Dola Smriti Padak.
Former cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor, daughter of Golam Mustafa and Awami League lawmaker for reserved seat for women Suborna Mustafa, recitation artiste Bhaswar Bandyopadhyay and others will attend the event.
Besides, different cultural organisations will arrange programmes in Chattogram, Barishal,
Sylhet, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and other areas marking the International Mother Language Day.
