The executive committee of Bangladesh Hockey Federation in a meeting on Wednesday decided to organise a franchise hockey competition in May.
‘In response to a proposal from a private organisation, today [Wednesday] we decided to run a franchise-based hockey competition in May,’ BHF general secretary Mohammad Yousuf told New Age.
Yousuf informed that the fixtures, competition format and the numbers of participating teams for the maiden edition of the franchise-based hockey will be finalised within the next 10 days.
The meeting also decided to agree to avail an offer from the Hockey Federation of India to host a five to six match series against Indian Junior [U-21] or an Indian Academy team in late June.
The meeting was held at the Falcon House in the city with BHF president Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat in the chair.
