JS body for issuing fire arms licence to lawmakers on priority

The parliamentary standing committee on home ministry on Wednesday advised the ministry to ask deputy commissioners to give priority to lawmakers for issuing fire arms licence.

The Jatiya Sangsad committee made the advice at its meeting held at Parliament Bhavan, said a parliament secretariat press release.

The committee also suggested that the ministry should discuss with the law ministry to tighten the way of getting bail easily by the accused in drug-related cases. The committee urged the authorities concerned not to give any advantage to any such accused considering the political identity, the release said.

The meeting also decided that in the next meeting, it would discuss how the law would be implemented against Bangladeshi nationals doing ‘sedition’ staying abroad, the release said.

According to committee members, the home ministry informed the committee that three public relations executives of Forethought PR and Blackboard Strategies Limited, concerns of Asiatic 360, had died from drinking toxic liquor recently after a vacation at a resort in Gazipur.

Chaired by the JS body chairman M Shamsul Haque Tuku, the meeting was attended by committee members Asaduzzaman Khan, also home minister, M Afsarul Amin, Habibar Rahman, Shamsul Alam Dudu, Pir Fazlur Rahman, Sultan Muhammed Mansur Ahmed and Begum Rumana Ali.
