The Bangladesh Bank has granted Southeast Bank permission to provide Shariah-based Islamic banking services alongside conventional banking services at all of its business centres.
The BB gave the permission after the bank submitted an application to the central bank in this regard.
With the BB’s approval, it will be easier to provide all modern and technology-backed Islamic banking services from all business centres of the bank in addition to the conventional banking services.
Southeast Bank now has five fully Islamic banking branches — Motijheel branch in Dhaka, CDA Avenue branch in Chattogram, Bondorbazar branch in Sylhet, Chhagalnaiya branch in Feni, and Cox’s Bazar branch.
Southeast Bank has been providing Islamic banking services under the brand name of Southeast Tijarah since 2003. — New Age
