Health minister Zahid Maleque is going to take a COVID-19 vaccine jab on Sunday, the day Bangladesh plans for nationwide mass vaccination.
Health ministry public relations officer Maidul Islam Prodhan said that the minister would take the jab at Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Hospital in the capital’s Mohakhali area.
Bangladesh inaugurated COVID-19 vaccination on January 27 with the inoculation of 26 front line fighters at Kurmitola General Hospital.
The next day, two ministers, two secretaries and 537 other frontline healthcare providers and senior citizens took the vaccine in the first-run drive to observe them for a week before rolling out a mass vaccination on February 7.
