Six killed in political violence in Jan: MSF

Municipality election-related political violence have claimed lives of six people in January as contending political parties and rebel candidates have been locked in clashes during the polls, said a monthly human rights report.

Manobadhikar Sangskritik Foundation, a non-government rights body, published the report.

The report showed that three people were killed in Chattogram, one each in Barishal, Sirajganj and Jhenaidah.

MSF report stated that 83 women fell victim of rape including 11 of them were gang-raped during the period.

A Bangladeshi was killed and two were injured by Border Security Force in last month, the report added.

The human rights report showed that a Rohingya youth was killed in crossfire and another youth died in law enforcement agency’s custody.

The Rohingya youth was killed in a Border Guard Bangladesh crossfire in Teknaf while an apprentice lawyer was detained by police on December 29 and died after falling sick in police custody on January 2, said the report.
