National Food Safety Day will be observed today across the country with the slogan Tekshoi Unnayan, Samriddho Desh, Nirapod Khadyer Bangladesh.
The main programme marking the day would be held on February 18 with the virtual participation of prime minister Sheikh Hasina, said Bangladesh Food Safety Authority secretary Abdun Naser Khan.
The programme has been delayed because of PM’s schedule constraints, he said.
A special newspaper supplement in observance of the day however will be published in the dailies today.
Each district office of BFSA in collaboration with the office of deputy commissioner is scheduled to host a discussion on safe food across Bangladesh today.
On February 4, there would be a roundtable discussion on challenges against food safety during the global pandemic. On February 18, a daylong international conference will also be held to be inaugurated by the prime minister.
National Food Safety Day was introduced in 2018, three years after the establishment of the BFSA on February 2 in 2015.
