The Border Guard Bangladesh arrested four money-laundering suspects with $ 1.9 at Hamidpur on the outskirts of Jashore town Friday morning.
The arrested were Mithu Mondol, 27, of Gatipara village, Shahidul Islam, 23, of Chhotoanchra village under Benapole port police station, Sohel Rana, 40 of Lalitadah village and Rakibul Hasan Sagar, 20 of Naudagram village under Kotwali police station in Jashore.
On information, a border guard team led by assistant director Faruk Hossain arrested them and seized the US currencies while they were waiting to catch a Dhaka-bound bus at about 11:50am, said the 49 border guard battalion commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Selim Reza.
`The US dollars were laundered,’ the officer added. No case was filed immediately.
