5 Ansar-Al-Islam members held

Rapid Action Battalion in overnight raids in Rupnagar area under Pallabi police station arrested five operatives of the banned militant group ‘Ansar Al Islam’ in Dhaka.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury of RAB-4 told BSS on Saturday, that Five ‘Ansar-Al-Islam’ members were arrested at about 9:30 last night.

The detainees were identified as Md Hasibur Rahman alias Sohel, 28, Md Mosharraf Hossain alias Atiq,19, Ramim Hossain alias Panir Hossain alias Nahidur Rahman, 22, Md Sajib Mia alias Khizir, 20, and Chanchal Hossain alias Abdullah, 19,

RAB also seized 12 different books of Ansar Al Islam, 23 leaflets, 135 screenshots and six mobile phone sets from their possessions.

During primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted their involvement in the banned militant organization.

A legal action is underway to this end, the RAB official added.
