A female was allegedly gang-raped by her husband’s friends at Sipahibagh in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Khilgaon police station officer-in-charge Farukul Alam said that the 25-year-old victim and resident of Dholairpar area filed a rape case on Sunday evening against her husband and five others.
Her husband Ayub Ali took her to a flat of one of his friends, where she was gang-raped by five of his friends, according to the complaint.
She was then rushed to the one stop crisis centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and underwent medical tests.
OC Farukul said that usually victims at first appear at police stations to file cases and then police sent them to hospitals for medical tests.
But in that case, the victim went to DMCH one stop crisis centre first and then appeared at police station five days after the incident.
‘We have talked with one stop crisis centre and they confirmed about her treatment there,’ said the OC adding that the crisis centre officials did not informed police about the incident as the victim failed to identify the location of the incident.
A cousin of the victim said that she is married to Ayub for one year. It was Ayub’s second marriage.
Ayub used to torture her and she filed a case against him with Jatrabari Police Station earlier.
The husband convinced her to meet his friends at Sipahibagh and took her there, he said.
Police were yet to arrest the accused and the husband fled after the incident.
