2 killed in Pabna over land dispute

Two people were killed and three others injured in an attack while working on a disputed land at Nariagdai village in Pabna’s Santhia upazila on Saturday.

The deceased were Munnaf Hossain, 40, son of Sakhawat Hossain, a resident of Melaipur village and Nasir Uddin, 27, son of Shamsul Islam of Barapaiksa village of Santhia upazila in Pabna. The two dead were cousins.

Police and local people said that Munnaf bought the land from Sachu Pramanik of Nariagdai bazaar a few days ago.

When Munnaf along with construction workers started building house there, Bachchu along with his men attacked them with sharp weapons at around 11:00am on Saturday, leaving Nasir Uddin dead on the spot. Munnaf died on way to hospital, they said.

Of the injured, construction worker Raushan and Harun were admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

Officer-in-charge of Santhia Police Station Md Asaduzzaman said additional police had been deployed in the area after the incident.
