Cultural organisation Swapnakuri celebrated its 34th founding anniversary organising a programme at the Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.
The programme titled Swapnakuri Gouraber 34 Bachhar featured songs, dance recitals and an award-given ceremony.
Poet Mohammad Nurul Huda inaugurated the event where poet and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder was present as chief guest.
Local Government Division additional secretary Mesbah Uddin, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general Liaquat Ali Lucky, poet Nasir Ahmed, Charu Shilpi Sangsad general secretary Kamal Pasa Chowdhury and others were present as guests at the programme, which was presided over by Swapnakuri president poet Hasan Mahmud.
Besides, Swapnakuri honoured Poet Faruk Mahmud, writer Ishaq Khan and dancer Ananna Wafi Rahman with Swapnakuri Award.
‘Swapnakuri began its journey in 1986. We are operating in four districts including Dhaka, Bhola, Barishal and Netrokona. We have been honouring artistes for their contribution to the country’s cultural arena since 2001. This year we honoured three artistes for their contributions to their respective fields,’ Hasan Mahmud told New Age.
Besides, artistes Pradip Kumar Nandi, Palash Loha Palash, Miraz Mahidi, Jayanti, Joya, Sharmin, Liza and others entertained the audience presenting songs, dance recitals and recitation.
