One killed in Cox’s Bazar shoot-out

A man was killed and three police injured in a shoot-out at Teknaf in the district on Tuesday night.

The deceased was Khorshed Alam, 22.

Officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station Hafizur Rahman said, ‘Police arrested one fugitive Samsul Alam around 10:30pm. Suddenly, his associates attacked police in Habirchara area and tried to snatch him.’

At one stage, the criminals opened fire targeting the police, which prompted to retaliate, triggering a gunfight that left some people with bullet injuries, the OC added.

‘Later, we came to know that a youth named Khorshed Alam, brother of Samsul Alam, died on way to hospital,’ Hafizur Rahman continued.

The body was kept at the mortuary of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
