The UNESCO Madanjeet Singh South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies held a virtual freshers’ reception and orientation ceremony for its 2nd batch of students of Master of Laws programme on Saturday.
Thirty South Asian students with fully-funded scholarships provided by Madanjeet Singh Foundation were admitted in the programme of the institute at University of Asia Pacific, said a press release.
UAP acting vice-chancellor Professor M Sultan Mahmud chaired the ceremony and Bangladesh Supreme Court lawyer and jurist Kamal Hossain, also the chair of the institute, delivered his speech as the chief guest.
Former caretaker government adviser and the university’s trustee board chairman CM Shafi Sami addressed the function as a special guest.
South Asia Foundation’s principal trustee France Marquet, its Chairman Farooq Sobhan, and its Bangladesh chapter vice-chairperson Khushi Kabir also addressed the event, attended by teachers and students.
