The National Board of Revenue on Tuesday advised individual income taxpayers to complete their banking activities related to income tax payment by December 31 is a bank holiday.
The last date for income tax returns filing is Thursday, December 31, but banking operations will remain close on the day as the country’s bank sector observes the day as a holiday, said an NBR release.
‘So, taxpayers are requested to complete their banking activities related to tax payment by Wednesday,’ said the release signed by NBR’s senior information officer Syed A Momen.
The regular deadline for income tax returns submission was supposed to expire on November 30 as per Income Tax Ordinance-1984.
But the NBR extended the deadline up to December 31 so that taxpayers can file their returns maintaining health guidelines amid coronavirus outbreak.
Many taxpayers were also struggling to file tax returns due to failure in collecting necessary documents.
