Theatre troupe Spardha: Independent Theatre Collective will premiere its upcoming production titled Montrash at Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Samity on December 18, said a press release.

The play, a translation of Sarah Kane’s 4.48 Psychosis, has been translated into Bangla by Shahman Moishan and Sharif Siraj. It has been designed and directed by Syed Jamil Ahmed.

It is composed in a unique poetic style that abandons linear narrative to embrace a post-dramatic architecture by fusing together monologues, stream-of-consciousness, soliloquies, daily-life dialogues, and narratives addressed directly to the spectators.

It revolves around a young female artist and portrays rape, sexual assault, murder, torture unto death, religious intolerance and chaotic uncertainty in the society.

The play will be staged from December 18 to December 31 at Bangladesh Mahila Samity.
