Theatre troupe Pranganemor will premiere its upcoming production titled Major at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Samity on Victory Day, which will be observed on December 16 across the country.
The play, written and directed by playwright-actor-director Ananta Hira, will give the audience a glimpse into the roles of different majors of the army in the country’s political history after the war of Independence.
Major is the 15th production of the troupe.
‘The subject of the play is unique. It will give the audience a glimpse into a sensitive chapter of our political history after the war of independence,’ Ananta Hira told New Age.
‘I wrote the play amid the general holiday. We rehearsed for the play virtually during general holiday and held in-person rehearsal in August. We will stage the play following the health directives. Half of the tickets for the show have already been sold. I hope the viewers will enjoy the play,’ added Ananta Hira.
He also said that the people became bored staying at home and hoped that people would enjoy the show.
Two technical shows of the play will be held on December 14 and December 15. The second show of the play will be held at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on December 18, said a press release.
Ananta Hira, Nuna Afroz, Awal Reza, Rawshan Jannat Rushni, Sumon Mallick and Badhan Sarkar will act in the play.
