The authorities of Bangabandhu Bridge in Tangail had postponed vehicular movement on the bridge since Wednesday midnight due to poor visibility caused by a heavy fog.
The postponement caused a 22 kilometres traffic jam from the eastern end of the bridge to Gharinda Underpass of Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway.
Elenga highway police outpost in-charge inspector Kamal Hossain said that the authorities stopped vehicular movement time to time to avoid road accidents. Vehicular movement almost came to normal after 11:00am, he said.
The bridge authorities issued a public notice informing transport owners, workers and drivers in this regard.
It also asked drivers to be cautious while using the approach road to the Bangabandhu Bridge due to dense fog.
Drivers and passengers, especially women and children, are the worst victim of the tailback.
