Recitation event protests at violence against women

Artistes participate in an online recitation show organised by Bangladesh Abritti Sangathan Samannay Parishad on Friday.

Female recitation artistes protested at violence against women reciting poems in an online programme held on Friday.

The programme, titled Amra Nemechi Pathe, was organised by Bangladesh Abritti Sangathan Samannay Parishad.

The organisation has been streaming live online recitation show every Friday from October 16 to entertain poetry lovers amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Female artistes of recitation troupes namely Kantha Sadhan Abritti Sangsad Bogura, Abritti Parishad Naogaon, Swanan Rajshahi, Abritti Charcha Kendra Rajshahi, Kalatan Abritti Sangsad Rajshahi, Uchcharan Abritti Sangsad, Barnamala Abritti Sangsad, Joypurhat Abritti Sangsad, Abritti Parishad Nilphamari and others participated in the programme.

Kulsum Sheli commenced the event reciting Prince Mahfuz’s poem Amar Golay Fasir Dori.

Following which, Chaitali Rahman recited Shubho Dasgupta’s Megh Bollo Jabi, Lipy Pramanik recited Mallika Sengupta’s Draupadi Janma, Wasima Nasrin recited Taslima Nasrin’s Orato Kukur Manus Noy, Rubaba Iffat Archi recited Mahfuz Rajon’s Narir Janya Pangtimala, Nusrat Sharmin Sony recited Mallika Sengupta’s Malati Janma and Sirajum Musfirat Subat recited Debabrata Singha’s Tej, among others.

The event was hosted by recitation artiste Monira Mithi.

‘We have been streaming online recitation show on Facebook every Friday from October 16. We have received huge responses from poetry lovers. Today’s event featured artistes from Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions. We urge all to watch our upcoming programmes,’ said Monira Mithi.
