Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan has been admitted to a hospital in Dhaka with COVID-19.
‘Nazrul Islam was admitted to Square Hospitals on Monday night as he tested positive for COVID-19,’ said BNP assistant office secretary Taiful Islam Tipu.
He said the BNP senior leader underwent a COVID-19 test on Monday morning and the result came out positive in the evening.
Tipu said Nazrul was kept at the ICU of the hospital. His condition improved, he said.
Meanwhile, party vice chairman and former minister Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf has been receiving treatment for coronavirus infections at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka for the past few days.
‘He has been put on a ventilator as his condition turned critical with serious lung infections,’ Tipu said.
Amid a rise in the infection of the deadly virus with the arrival of winter, BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas, his wife Afroza Abbas, standing committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, vice chairman Barkat Bulu and his entire family, organising secretaries Fazlul Haque Milon, Shama Obaid and several other leaders have also been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Among them, Barkatullah Bulu and his family members have been admitted to Green Life Hospital in the capital while the rest are receiving treatment at home.
