Ali Arman Rajon, the reserve umpire for both Bangabandhu Twenty20 Cup matches on Saturday, tested positive for COVID-19.
Rajon was found to be carrying the virus after he was tested before entering the bio-secure bubble for Saturday’s matches, said umpiring department in-charge Ovi Abdullah.
‘As he was supposed to start his duty from today [Saturday], he went through the mandatory testing process before entering the bio-secure bubble. He was the only person to test positive,’ Ovi told New Age.
Rajon will be replaced by Shafiuddin Ahmed Babu, informed Ovi. Rajon was also the reserve umpire for the double-header on Monday.
Earlier, Under-19 World Cup winner Mahmudul Hasan, who was part of the Gazi Group Chattogram side, tested positive for coronavirus before the start of the tournament.
