There will be no admission test this year at the schools due to COVID-19 crisis and the students will get admission through lottery, education minister Dipu Moni said in an online press briefing on Wednesday.
The decision was taken considering the health issue of the children as the COVID-19 infection was on the rise in the country and many other countries were also closing the schools amid the second wave of the virus, she said.
‘We made the decision weighing up three options - taking admission tests in a conventional system, taking admission tests online and through the lottery,’ she said.
Dipu Moni said that the ministry decided after taking opinions of the experts, headteachers of different schools and officials of both education ministry and the primary education ministry.
