A man in his twenties has reportedly raped twin sisters at Mugda in Dhaka.

The police said on Sunday that the family of the suspect had tried to cover up the incident, but the victim’s mother filed a case with Mugda Police Station on the day.

The victims are 11-year-old twin sisters.

They were sent to One Stop Crisis Centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical tests after the case had been filed, police added.

According to the case statement, a maternal cousin raped them.

Mugda police sub-inspector Enamul Karim said that the sisters are residents of Madinabagh area.

They live near their maternal uncle’s house.

Enamul Karim said that the 23-year-old youth asked the sisters to go to his house saying that his mother, who is also an aunt of the sisters, had been calling them.

When the sisters turn up at the house, they found that none was there.

The youth, however, went there and took them inside the house and raped them, said the police officer quoting the family of the victim.

The girls told everything to their mother, but the family of the accused tried to hide the incident.

SI Enamul said that he visited the spot and found evidences of rape during a primary investigation.

The accused is on the run after the incident, said police.
