The police arrested four more suspects at Uttara and Turag areas in Dhaka on Saturday in connection with the recovery of 31 crude bombs from an under‑construction building at Kamarpara in Uttara.

The arrested are Sohrab Hossain, Tawhidul Islam, Selim Mia, and Uzzal Mia.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner for media Walid Hossain said on Sunday that the arrested are accused in an arson case filed with Uttara Paschim Police Station.

Detectives recovered 31 crude bombs from an under-construction building at Kamarpara on Friday evening.

The police claimed that the bombs that had recently been used in a series of arson attacks on buses in Dhaka were supplied from the storage.

They arrested two people named Mamun Parvez and Sumon Sheikh.

Mamun is the secretary of Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal’s Turag Thana unit and Sumon is the secretary of the organisation’s Ward-54 unit.

BNP, however, alleged that the case and the incident of bomb recovery were fabricated to implicate its leaders.

BNP office secretary Emran Saleh Prince said that Mamun and one of his colleagues had been missing since Wednesday after securing anticipatory bail from the High Court.

At least 11 buses were set afire at separate places in a series of arson attacks in the capital on November 12.

None was injured in the incidents, according to police and fire service officials.

The police filed at least 16 cases after the attack and arrested at least 50 BNP leaders and activists.
