The High Commission of Indian in Bangladesh on Tuesday released a limited series of wristwatches commemorating the birth centenary of Bangladesh’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Awami League general secretary and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader and Indian high commission in Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami unveiled the wristwatches designed and commissioned by the high commission in Dhaka, according to a press release of the high commission.
The watches bear an image of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his signature on the dial and represent the timelessness of his message as well as his eternal relevance, according to the high commission.
Obaidul Quader recalled ‘the shared history of the liberation war which is the bedrock on which the India-Bangladesh bilateral relation is built,’ the press release said.
Vikram Doraiswami said that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is a hero to the Indian people too.
These special edition watches were designed and manufactured in India for the High Commission of India by TITAN, the watchmaking division of India’s multinational TATA Group.
