Bangladesh Cricket Board will appoint two physicians as ‘COVID Officers’ to carry out the coronavirus related tasks during the Bangabandhu Twenty20 cup, said BCB’s chief physician Debashis Chowdhury.
Presently, two physicians are working as medical officers at BCB and to ensure the bio-secure bubble, two more doctors will be working during the tournament, Debashis told New Age.
‘The role of the COVID Officers will be to carry out all the tasks involving coronavirus. Like temperature check, health monitoring and other necessary duties,’ told the BCB doctor.
‘We are two doctors at BCB and with two more the number will be four. We will distribute the duties among ourselves. One doctor will be constantly available at the dressing room,’ he added.
He also said that the players and officials of Bangabandhu Twenty20 Cup will provide their samples for the coronavirus test at BCB office premises on November 20.
‘Other than the 16 players, each team will be accompanied by nine support staff; that makes the number 25 and for five teams the total is 125. All of them will provide samples for the coronavirus test on November 20,’ said Debashis.
