Bangabandhu Corner launched in Mauritius

The authorities of the Bangladesh High Commission in Mauritius on Tuesday inaugurated a ‘Bangabandhu Corner’ in memory of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding president of Bangladesh.   

Lord mayor of Port Louis Mahfooz Moussa, the chief guest of the programme, inaugurated the corner.

The event started with offering munajaat seeking the salvation of the departed souls of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members who had been assassinated on August 15, 1975.

Mohammad Jahangir Alam of the mission conducted the munajaat.

Mahfooz Moussa in his speech praised Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and hoped for a strong bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and Mauritius.

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister, Rep. Lewis, Chief Humanitarian Officer, Rep. Lewis Municipality, members of the Embassy and expatriate Bangladeshis.

Rezina Ahmed, Bangladesh high commissioner to Mauritius, in her speech sought the salvation of the departed souls of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members.

Port Louis deputy mayor, municipality members and expatriate Bangladeshis were present at the event, said a press release.
