Police said on Saturday they were investigating if former Sunbeams School student Arnaaz Ahmed was killed or committed suicide, a day after they had recovered her body from the capital’s Dhanmondi area.
The body of Arnaaz was recovered early on Friday sometimes after she fell from the rooftop of a 10-storey building, where she lived with her family.
Dhanmondi police officer-in-charge Md Ekram Ali Bhuiyan said on Friday that Arnaaz had been suffering from depression and might have committed suicide.
But the OC on Saturday night said they suspect that the victim might have been pushed off the rooftop.
He said they were waiting for the result of the autopsy.
An unnatural death case was filed over the incident.
The case investigation officer, Dhanmondi police sub-inspector Subrata Baidya, said that it might take a few days for getting the autopsy report.
Arnaaz, 19, daughter of Dr Tahmeed Ahmed, was living in road number 15(A) under Dhanmondi police station in the capital.
Arnaaz completed her A-level examinations from Sunbeams School in the city and was enrolled in a university in the US, but could not leave the country due to COVID-19 crisis, said the OC.
Arnaaz’s father Dr Tahmeed is the first Bangladeshi executive director of the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh.
