China Machinery Engineering Corporation was on Thursday awarded with the deal of establishing a waste-based power plant for Dhaka North City Corporation.
A meeting of the cabinet committee of the national purchases chaired by finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal approved a proposal from the power division in this connection.
Additional secretary Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal of the cabinet division said that per unit power from the 42.5 megawatt plant would cost Tk 18.295/kWh.
He said that Tk 15,325 crore will be required for purchasing power for 25 years.
The power plant will be set up at Amin Bazar in Savar.
