Bangladesh Hockey Federation on Thursday deferred the schedule of Under-21 Men’s Asia Cup Hockey tournament again for five months.
The 10-team tournament, which was scheduled in January 2021, would be held now in May-June, said the BHF.
The event was originally scheduled from June 4 to 14, 2020, but the federation rescheduled it later due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Anticipating a second wave of the pandemic, the BHF president and Bangladesh Air Force chief air chief marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat decided to reschedule the tournament for the second time, said the federation’s acting general secretary Mohammad Yousuf.
‘Our president decided it after discussing the matter with the sports minister. As the second wave of coronavirus already struck Europe, we are taking a precaution,’ he said.
Yousuf informed that the ongoing training camp of the hockey team will also be closed within few days.
