Anti-Corruption Commission commissioner Mozammel Haque Khan on Wednesday said that the commission had started collecting information about the wealth of ruling Awami League lawmaker Haji Md Selim and his son Irfan Selim.
‘We are monitoring different media reports that lawmaker Selim and his son Irfan made huge wealth abusing their power,’ Mozammel told reporters at a press conference at the commission head office in Dhaka.
He said that the commission would launch a formal inquiry against them if needed.
The commission would examine the matter to know whether the wealth is legal or illegal, Moazammel said.
Suspended Dhaka South City councillor Irfan now faces several charges after law enforcers arrested him on Monday, for allegedly assaulting an officer of Bangladesh Navy.
Irfan was suspended from the post of DSCC’s ward no. 30 councillor on Tuesday on charges of moral turpitude and misconduct.
