A case was lodged on Tuesday with Agailjhara police station in Barishal in connection with raping an 18-year-old college girl while another case was lodged with Khalishpur police station in Khulna city on the day for raping two minor girls, aged 10 and 11.
Besides, police on Tuesday arrested two more accused in the case of gang-raping a Class IX girl student in Rangpur.
New Age correspondent in Barishal reported that the victim college girl lodged a case with Agailjhara Police Station alleging that her friend Nayan Mandal of Bagda union in the upazila took her to visit local Durga Puja mandops on October 24 night and raped her in an abandoned brick field. Then four other youths — Imu, Sujon, Sumon and Parvez — took them to a local school and tried to rape her.
Sub-inspector Toiyabur Rahman, investigation officer of the case, said that the locals went to the school on suspicion and rescued the girl, but all the five accused managed to flee.
The victim was sent to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for medical tests, said Golam Sarwar, officer-in-charge of Agailjhara police station.
In Khulna, police arrested auto-rickshaw driver Hiru Mia, 30, of Mujgunni Sheikhpara area under Khalishpur police station on Monday night, immediately after parents of two minor girls, aged 10 and 11, of a house at Mujgunni caught him on allegation of raping the girls and handed over him to police, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported.
Father of one of the girls filed a case with Khalishpur police station early Tuesday in this connection alleging that Hiru raped the girls in the past several days alluring them with foods, said Khalishpur police station OC Kazi Moshtak Ahmed.
The girls were admitted to the One Stop Crisis Center of Khulna Medical College Hospital, he said.
New Age correspondent in Rangpur reported that a team of Police Bureau of Investigation arrested Babul Hossain and Abul Kalam Azad of Majapara of Lalmoirhat sadar on Tuesday morning in the case of gang-raping a Class IX girl in Haragachh area of Rangpur city on Sunday.
Rangpur PBI superintendent Zakir Hossain said that the duo, in primary interrogation, confessed to their involvement in the gang rape. The police also produced two arrested women, Sumaiya Parvin Meghla and Shurovi Akhter, before the court of additional chief judicial magistrate Arifa Yeasmin Mukta that sent them to jail.
The other accused in the case, assistant sub-inspector of Rangpur Metropolitan Police’s detective branch, Rayhanul Islam Raju, is now under police guard and next steps would be taken after getting the statement of the victim who is now undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital, said RMP deputy commissioner (crimes) Abu Maruf.
He said that ASI Rayhanul was suspended and attached to the police lines.
According to the family members, ASI Rayhanul developed a relationship with the victim, called her on Sunday morning at the rented house of Meghla and raped her with some of his associates with the help of Meghla and Shurovi.
