JUST student suspended for hurting Hindus

The authority of Jashore University of Science and Technology has suspended the studentship of Shakil Hawlader, a second-year student of mathematics, for his alleged derogatory comment on Hindu God and Goddess on Facebook.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the university authorities with vice-chancellor professor Anwar Hossain in the chair on Saturday.

The meeting was attended, among others, by dean Abdullah Al Mamun, senior teachers Nasim Reza, Md Mehedi Hasan, Md Anisur Rahman, Mizanur Rahman, Amzad Hossain, registrar Ahsan Habib, and Aminur Rahman, controller of examinations, and other teachers.

The meeting also decided to send a show cause notice to the student over the cancellation of his studentship permanently.

The authorities recently suspended studentship of another student on the same ground.
