The Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Wednesday rejected the results of some union and upazila parishad elections held on the previous day alleging that the elections were manipulated by the ruling party activists.
The BNP also demanded fresh elections to the parishads.
The demand was made at a press conference of the party in its central office at Naya Paltan in Dhaka.
BNP organising secretary Emran Saleh Prince to the press conference that ruling party leaders and activists created chaos in polling stations, stuffed ballot boxes and intimidated voters in favour of their party candidates.
Moreover, they forced the polling agents of BNP candidates to leave polling booths, Prince said.
In Dinajpur, Jessore, Khulna, Bagerhat, Cumilla, Chandpur, Sylhet and some others districts, elections to union parishads and upazila parishads were held on Tuesday.
Prince criticised the Election Commission saying that it failed to hold free and fair elections.
He called on people to come forward to end the misrule of the Awami League government that took up power through manipulating 2018 general election.
BNP central committee leaders Habibur Rahman, Shirin Sultana, Taiful Islam Tipu, Rafique Hawlader and others attended the press conference.
