Unstoppable rape incidents countrywide

A number of cases were filed over rapes while some accused went into hiding in continuous rape incidents across the country on Monday and Tuesday.

Five people were accused in a case filed in connection with the rape of a college girl in Tangail's Gopalpur upazila on Monday night.

Other than this, five more cases of rape and sexual assault in different places including one against a madrassah teacher in Chattogram came up on Monday night and Tuesday in the country.

Gopalpur police OC Mosharaf Hossain said the victim's mother filed a case with Gopalpur Police Station against five people, reported New Age correspondent in Tangail.

According to the case statement, the five accused abducted the college girl from a village in Mirzapur union on Monday evening and raped her in a house in the nearby char area.

In Sylhet, police rescued a girl from Chhatak in Sunamganj on Tuesday afternoon 26 days after she was kidnapped and raped.

Police also arrested Tanvir Ahmed, 20, a resident of Sadar upazila in Sylhet for the rape and abduction charges.

Jalalabad police officer-in-charge Akil Uddin Ahmed told New Age that they arrested Tanvir from a house of Bhatgaon village at Chhatak upazila at around 4:00pm and then rescued the kidnapped girl, aged 13, from the house, New Age staff correspondent in Sylhet reported.

The girl complained to her family that she was raped, police said.

At Banshkhali upazila in Chattogram, a case was filed on Monday night against a madrassa teacher for allegedly raping an 11-year old girl.

The accused Mozammel Haque, 55, has been working as a teacher at West Chambol.

On Monday night victim’s mother filed the case with Banshkhali Police station.

Banshkhali police OC Rezaul Karim said that they are conducting drive in different spots to arrest the accused.

In another incident, Rangunia police arrested a madrassa teacher on Monday night for raping five children for last two months.

The arrestee was Nasir Uddin, 35. In primary investigation, the accused confessed to committing the crime. He was a resident of Koiyarbil union of Chakaria upazila.

Rangunia police Station officer-in-charge Mahbub Milky said that for last two months the accused had been raping the five children. Few days back they escaped from the madrassa and informed it to their families.

The children were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Police on Monday night arrested the accused from Rangunia. They placed him in a court and the court sent him to jail on Tuesday afternoon.

Two people arrested on charge of gang-raping a teenage girl in Feni's Dewanganj upazila have confessed to committing their crimes before a court on Tuesday.

The accused, rickshaw puller Md Riad and barber shop staff Chhotan Chandra Shil confessed to involving in the crime before the court of Feni's Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Jakir Hossain, said Feni sadar police OC Alamgir Hossain.

A three-year old girl was sexually abused by her neighbour in Kadamtoli of the capital Monday.

The victim was sent to a one-stop crisis centre on Tuesday noon, after her family filed a case with Kadamtoli Police Station on the night.

The accused Kajol went into hiding after the incident, said Kadamtoli police sub-inspector Imrul Hasan.
