231 illegal establishments demolished in Chattogram

Around 231 illegal establishments were demolished and 0.79 acres of railway land recovered during a drive from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Mintu Colony of Ambagan area in Chattogram on Monday.

Bangladesh Railway east region estate officer Mahabubul Karim said that Sheikh Nasir Uddin Ahmed Mintu, an electrician of power department of Bangladesh Railway east region, built up more than 200 illegal establishments on the land of Bangladesh Railway.

He said that Mintu’s job was to cut illegal connections on railway land but he occupied the land of government, then, he built up nearly 230 establishments on the land of railway in Ambagan area.

He also provided illegal gas and power connections to these illegally built houses.

The estate officer said that Mintu earned crores of money by managing the high officials of the railway in the last 14 years.
