Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury joined as dean of School of Business and Economics of North South University on Thursday, said a press release.
Professor Abdul Hannan served as the vice-chancellor of Primeasia University from 2017 to 2020.
He served as the pro-vice chancellor of Eastern University from 2014 to 2017.
He was the former professor of the School of Business and served as the executive director of external relations, dean of School of Business, director of the BBA programme, member of the syndicate and director of Department of Career and Professional Development Services of North South University.
He has 32 years of teaching and research experience with various reputed institutions in Bangladesh, Canada, and the United States of America.
He has worked as a faculty member at the University of Windsor, Canada, Northeastern University, Boston, USA, University of Calgary, Canada and at the Islamic University, Bangladesh.
In 2014, he was made a visiting professor of the School of Economics and Management at the Yunnan Normal University, China.
He completed his BSc (hons) and MSc in Statistics from Jahangirnagar University and also completed MS in operations research from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, United States.
He was awarded PhD in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, United States. He was also a postdoctoral scholar at University of Calgary, Canada.
He has published more than 50 papers and two books on Statistics and presented more than 40 papers in different international conferences.
