Nazmul XI outplayed Mahmudullah XI to complete a comprehensive 131-run victory and move to the top of the table in the three-team BCB President’s Cup on Saturday.
Afif Hossain and Mushfiqur Rahim set up the Nazmul XI innings, scoring 98 off 108 balls and 52 off 92 balls respectively, and Irfan Sukkur hit an unbeaten 48 off 31 balls to take them to 264-8, the highest total in the tournament so far.
In reply, Mahmudullah XI’s dismal batting continued, as they were bowled out for 133 in 32.1 overs.
Earlier, sent to bat, Nazmul XI were struggling at 31-3 before Afif and Mushfiq added 147 runs for the fourth wicket, the highest partnership in the competition so far.
Afif missed out on a century as he was victim of a miscommunication with his partner Mushfiq, who also followed him to the dressing room soon.
Irfan then guided Nazmul XI to a decent total with his blistering knock, which included four fours and two sixes.
Chasing a 250-plus total, Mahmudullah XI top-order failed to fire, with Nasum Ahmed and Abu Jayed being the chief destroyers by taking three-wicket each.
Nurul Hasan remained unbeaten on 28 off 38 balls but eventually ran out of partners.
